Everything you need to know about creating lasting family memories with Sprout Diary
Getting Started
- Visit sproutdiary.com/sign-up
- Enter your email address and create a secure password
- Verify your email address through the confirmation link
- Complete your profile with your name and photo
Creating a New Pod:
- Click "Create Pod" from your dashboard
- Give your pod a meaningful name (e.g., "The Smith Family")
- Add a description and choose a color theme
- Set your pod's privacy preferences
Joining an Existing Pod:
- Ask a pod admin for an invitation link
- Click the invitation link and accept the invite
- You'll automatically be added to the pod
- Navigate to your pod's journal page
- Click "New Entry" to create your first journal post
- Add text or use a template to get started
- Publish your entry to share with your pod
Pro Tip: Use templates for consistent journaling. Try "Daily Gratitude" or "Family Milestones" to get started!

- Pod Management: Add or remove members, set roles and permissions
- Members Without Email: Add family members who don't have email addresses
Add family members who don't have email addresses to your pod.
- Go to your Pod Management page
- Click "Add without Email" button
- Enter the member's name
- Select if they are an adult or child
- Click "Add Member" to complete
Important Notes:
- • Members without email cannot log in to their own accounts
- • Adult pod members must create posts on their behalf
- • They still count toward your pod's 6-member limit
- • Perfect for young children or family members who prefer not to use technology
- • Their posts will show their name but indicate they were posted by another member

How to Export Your Journal:
- Navigate to Journal → Export
- Select your date range (optional) to filter entries
- Choose what to include: images, dates, author names
- Select your export format (PDF, JSON, or CSV)
- For PDF: Customize the appearance with themes and borders
- Click the Export button
PDF Customization Options:
- Themes: Modern, Classic, Minimal, or Magazine style layouts
- Borders: Simple, Decorative, Floral, Vintage, or Modern frames
- Colors: 9 border color options including gold
- Typography: Font family, size, and line height controls
Printing Tips:
- • Each page has its own border frame when printing
- • Entries won't split between pages
- • Page numbers are automatically added
- • In the print dialog, select "Save as PDF" to create a digital file
- • For best results, use letter size (8.5" x 11") paper

Unlike group chats where messages get lost in endless scrolling, Sprout Diary creates a permanent, organized record of your family's journey. Each entry is preserved chronologically, searchable, and can include rich media like photos and formatted text. Think of it as creating a digital family album that everyone can contribute to.
Yes! We believe your family's memories belong to you. You can export all your journal entries, including photos and metadata, at any time. Export formats include PDF for printing, JSON for data backup, and CSV for spreadsheet analysis.
Pods can have up to 6 members, which works great for immediate families or small family groups. Each member can belong to only one pod at a time, ensuring privacy and focused family connections.
Sprout Diary is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on your phone just like a native app. It works offline, sends push notifications, and provides a full app-like experience without requiring downloads from app stores. Just visit the site on your mobile browser and look for the "Install" prompt.
Your data remains yours. Before canceling, you can export everything. We maintain your data for 90 days after account closure in case you change your mind, then permanently delete it. You can also request immediate deletion if preferred. We never sell or share your family's data with third parties.
